Boston, MA, October 2018 – Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours’ multi-year partnership with National Geographic Expeditions has been incredibly successful, producing wonderful experiences for guests who join the sailings. Learning from leading National Geographic experts and photographers, listening to fascinating presentations, participating in informal discussions, and honing photographic skills, add to already in-depth itineraries. Along those lines, Scenic is especially honored to announce that Susan Goldberg, the Editor-in-Chief of National Geographic Magazine (first woman editor since its inception in 1888) and National Geographic Partners Editorial Director (in charge of all publishing ventures, including digital journalism, magazines, books, maps, children and family, and travel and adventure), is joining the May 25, 2019, 11-day Douro River Cruise. Under her leadership, National Geographic was a 2017 finalist for a Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting for its issue about gender. That same year they won a National Magazine Award for best single issue. Ms. Goldberg is also a board member for Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
