Discover resident colonies of sea lions and more than 200 species of birds on the Ballestas Islands in Peru and the Magellanic penguins in Chile. Abounding in natural phenomenon you will appreciate the enormity of the glaciers and fjords from the Zodiacs and kayaks or soar above it all in the helicopter^.   1. Day 1 - Lima (Callao)

    Welcome to Lima, Peru where your journey into wonder begins with a warm greeting by the crew as you step on board Scenic Eclipse. Raise your glass this evening and toast the start of your luxurious cruise.

  2. Day 2 - Paracas

    Paracas Bay, on the Pacific coastline of Peru is where the desert and the sea meet in spectacular landscapes. The cliffs that frame the beaches are prolific with wildlife including millions of seagulls and cormorants that are year round residents, as well as many migratory birds including guano birds and Humboldt penguins. Explore the wildlife rich Ballestas Islands, home to sea lion colonies and more than 200 species of birds.

    Witness a private performance of entertaining Peruvian musicians as you sample the national drink, the Pisco Sour against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.

  6. Day 6 - Valparaíso

    The World Heritage-listed city of Valparaíso welcomes you with its long and colourful history dating back to the Conquistadors. This vibrant city is rich in theatre, music, performance and street art, with most streets, staircases, alleyways and buildings brightly painted.

    Experience the winding cobblestone labyrinths of alleyways and bustling streets, and see brightly-coloured houses on the hills with your local guide or travel to the Casablanca Valley and taste some of Chile’s finest vintages. Alternatively, visit Viña del Mar and discover why it is known as the ‘Garden City’.

  7. Day 7 - At sea

  8. Day 8 - Puerto Montt

    At the very end of the Pan American highway is Puerto Montt, the starting point for the fabled land of fjords, canals, islands, snow-capped volcanoes, green-forested hills and the enchantment of Southern Chile.

    Visit Puerto Varas and Frutillar and see the beauty of these towns set in the middle of lakes and mountains. Alternatively explore Osorno Volcano and Petrohué Falls or choose to visit the Felmer Museum and Frutillar, and learn about the German colonization history of this area.

  9. Day 9 - Castro

    Visit Castro, where the attractions of Chiloe and the local culture is combined with modern development to create one of the most interesting cities on Chiloe Island.

    Today choose one of our Scenic Freechoice activities or join a more active Scenic Discovery excursion.

    Explore Castro and two of the World Heritage Listed chapels or discover the village of Dalcahue and the island of Quinchao. Alternatively see the farmlands and countryside on horseback.

    Travel to the Chiloe National Park and stroll the Tepual pathway through a forest of tepu.

  10. Day 10 - San Rafael Lagoon

    Journey to one of the most spectacular locations in Southern Chile. Board a local catamaran and cruise into the Laguna via a narrow opening revealing fantastic views of floating pieces of ice and the San Valentin Glacier. This glacier also has the distinction of being the world’s nearest glacier to the Equator. As a dramatic backdrop, the San Valentin Mountain rises from this massive ice field which is part of the Laguna San Rafael National Park.

  11. Day 11 - Inner Fjords

    Your senses will be overloaded with the majestic scenery and wildlife of the inner passages of the Chilean Channels, at the foot of the massive Darwin Cordillera mountain range. Watch from the Sky Terrace, the Observation Terrace or your private verandah as the Captain and local Chilean Pilot expertly manoeuvres Scenic Eclipse through the islands and channel markers of the English Narrows. Glaciers abound in this incredible landscape and you will discover the El Brujo and Amalia glaciers and many more highlights in these marvellous days of exploration.

  14. Day 14 - Punta Arenas

    Join a local guide for a walking tour of Punta Arenas, or visit the Magellan Strait Park and Fort Bulnes and learn the history of this area. Choose to step back in time with a visit to the Nao Victoria’s full-size replica of the Magellan’s ship at Salesian Museum or visit an estancia and discover a new way of life.

  15. Day 15 - Punta Arenas

    Today visit Magdalena Island. Lying in the Magellan Strait, this small island is a national monument of Chile and a breeding location for many species of birds including the Magellanic Penguin.

  16. Day 16 - Chilean Fjords

    Sensory days of cruising await as you traverse the Agostini and Garibaldi Fjords. Glaciers abound with the Monte Buckland mountain range as the backdrop.
