29 Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - Vancouver, Canada

    Welcome to Vancouver, framed by the Pacific Ocean and Coast Mountains. A world of wonder awaits as you step on board and raise your glass to toast the start of your luxurious cruise.

  2. Day 2 - At Sea

    Today, relax on your Discovery Yacht. With so many choices on board, you will be surprised how quickly time passes. Choose one of the daily activities including a class at Scenic Epicure, join an entertaining discussion in the theatre, or make time for your own fitness regime.

  3. Day 3 - At Sea

    Continue cruising up the picturesque coast of British Columbia. Try a game of bridge or canasta in the Observatory or test your knowledge with some trivia in the lounge. Whatever you choose to do, you will love the relaxing and luxurious finish to your extraordinary expedition voyage.

  4. Day 4 - Wrangell, USA

    Located near the Stikine River, Wrangell is one of the oldest towns in Alaska, with its rich history is visible in the collection of totem poles scattered throughout the town. Surrounded by natural beauty and wildlife, many are attracted to the region's fauna and flora. Anan Bear and Wildlife Observatory offer a rare chance to view wildlife including brown and black bears up close, you will soon see why this is known to be the heart of the Inside Passage.

  5. Day 5 - Kake

    Discover the home of the Tlingit people in Kake, with more than 70% of the people still preserving and continuing their heritage. Connect with the locals and learn about their survival through hunting, fishing and gathering plants and berries. Kake is a prime location for spotting whales and for bear watching during the summer when they emerge take feast on the thriving salmon population. The icy seas and thick forestland allow premium hiking trails such as Big John Bay Trail, Goose Lake Trail and Cathedral Falls Trail.

  6. Day 6 - Sitka

    As the old capital of Alaska during the Russian empire, Sitka still has strong ties to Russia. From the battle of the indigenous people with the Russians to the establishment of St. Michael’s Cathedral, North America's first orthodox cathedral, there is much history to unpack and explore. Sitka, of the United States main fishing ports, attracts seafood enthusiasts in hoardes. The picturesque landscape at Sitka National Historical Park and the wildlife of the Inside Passage is a tourist favourite where whales and Pacific salmon thrive deep below as bald eagles soar overhead.

  7. Day 7 - Cruising Hubbard Glacier

    Hubbard Glacier is the longest tidewater glacier in the world, stretching 122 kilometres. This mountain of ice exemplifies the grandness of the  region.

  8. Day 8 - Cruising Icy Bay

    Formed by retreating glaciers, Icy Bay lives up to its reputation with scattered icebergs floating in the clear, deep waters. Cruise through the fjord, taking in the spectacular scenery.

  9. Day 9 - Seward

    Discover one of Alaska's most historic towns, Seward. This seaside village offers access to Kenai Fjords National Park and a bustling harbour. Marine life, jagged cliffs and seabirds can be found at Resurrection Bay. Take to the seas and get a chance to spot sea lions and tidewater caves. Whether it is embarking on adventurous activities such as summer-style dogsledding or strolling through the streets of the ‘Mural Capital of Alaska’, there is something for everyone.

  10. Day 10 - Homer

    Homer is a small city on Kachemak Bay, that packs a big punch. Take in the charming coastal city that is distinguished by its gravel bar that extends into the bay, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and glaciers. Explore some of Homer's many hiking trails that meander through forests and over streams or take to the seas and kayak Kachemak Bay to witness its rich wildlife.

  11. Day 11 - Kodiak

    Situated along the Gulf of Alaska, the city of Kodiak is renowned for its inhabitants of grizzly bears, national state parks and sportfishing spots. Uncover history and learn about Kodiak’s key role in WWII as a staging point for US operations with Fort Abercrombie built as a defence post to protect the naval base. Renowned for its wildlife, Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge covers two thirds of the island and several nature-loving visitors each year. This is the best location to spot the salmon loving brown bear and other wildlife while taking in the majestic lakes and dramatic mountains within the national park.

    Enjoy a day at leisure exploring the excellent ultra-luxurious amenities of your Discovery Yacht. Try a game of bridge or canasta in the Observatory Lounge or tempt your palate at a wine tasting.

  13. Day 13 - Dutch Harbour

    One of the world’s largest and most famous fishing ports the Dutch Harbour of Alaska has a fascinating history. It is the site of the Battle of Dutch Harbour in 1942 when attacked by aerial bombardment from the Japanese, and remains the only other location on United States soil attacked during World War II, apart from the Pearl Harbour in Hawaii. Take in the beautiful scenery of this remote and mountainous landscape much loved by tourists, and famed for its hiking, skiing, sportfishing, kayaking and wildlife.

  14. Day 14 - St. Paul Island

    St Paul Island in the Bering Sea lies between USA and Russia, and has a land area of just 100km2 and uniquely has just one school, one post office, one bar, one shop and one church. Nature is abundant as the rugged landscape has been shaped by surrounding volcanoes and lava craters. Fauna has flourished with the region becoming well known as a breeding ground for more than 500,000 northern fur seals and millions of seabirds.

  16. Day 16 - Nome

    Welcome to Nome, set at the tip of the Seward Peninsula and overlooking the Bering Sea. Enjoy a day at leisure.

  17. Day 17 - Cross the International Date Line

    Acquaint yourself with the exceptional range of facilities on board your ultra-luxurious Discovery Yacht. Choose a class in one of the fitness spaces or relax in one of the therapy lounges in the Spa Sanctuary. Tempt your palate from one of the exceptional dining venues or try a wine tasting.

  18. Day 18 - Provideniya, Russia

    Cruise the Bering Sea and over the International Date Line on your way to Russia. Nestled against mountain peaks, Provideniya was built for military purposes that played a large part during WWII and is the gateway to the Chukotka Peninsula.

  19. Day 19 - Chukotka and Kamchatka Coast

    The Chukotka and Kamchatka Coast is the definition of remote, and the most perfect region for a discovery voyage on board Scenic Eclipse. Few roads and scarce infrastructure, with abundant wildlife including brown bears, reindeer and Arctic foxes roaming freely. Due to the extraordinary nature of the region, the sailing and expedition schedule is flexible. Your experienced Captain and Discovery Leader will use their expertise to design this section of your voyage from day to day, making the most of the long daylight hours, weather and ice conditions to give you the best experience possible in this extraordinary part of the world.
    Some of the possible landing sights that you may visit include Meinypil’gyno, one of the most important sites in the world for breeding Spoon-billed Sandpiper; Anastasia Bay, where we will be looking for walrus haulouts and birdlife, including the bluethroat and Siberian rubythroat; Tymlat Village for an authentic taste of the Koryak way of life. Prepare for a feast of the senses, as these wonderful, hardy folks display their unique culture through dance, games and delicious fresh food. Along the voyage we will be looking for marine wildlife, such as the Largha Seal, Gray and Beluga Whales, and wildlife hidden in the forested fjords, such a brown bears.
    Enjoy discovery excursion on water in a Zodiac, kayak or paddle board, and on land through guided walks with your specialist Discovery Team.

  26. Day 26 - Commander Islands

    Spectacular sea cliffs, arches and stacks, shaped by harsh climate and tectonic forces, signal your arrival in the Commander Islands. At Commander Bay on Bering Island, you will pay tribute to explorer Vitus Bering and visit his grave and memorial. You will dock beneath towering emerald cliffs at Peregtegrebnaya Bay, preferred summer nesting site for red-legged and black-legged kittiwakes. Cape Monati, southernmost point of Bering Island, is a possible place to spot albatross and whales. Northern fur seals haul out at Severo Zapadnyi along with much larger, tawny-golden Stellar sea lions. Your Discovery Yacht will cruise around the volcanic islands of Ariy Kamen, surrounded by thousands of kittiwakes, puffins and murres. Your last landing is Nikolskoe village, where Russia’s remaining Aleut community will passionately share their culture with you through lively performances.

  27. Day 27 - Commander Islands

  28. Day 28 - Zhupanova River

    Careful Zodiac navigation by the expert Discovery Team members will take you to the mouth of this powerful river, past salmon fishing camps and as far upstream as we can go. Look for brown bears and Steller’s sea eagles as distant mountains beckon us. Back in the bay, look out for basking largha seals and fantastic views of the 3,000-metre Zhupanovskiy volcano.

  29. Day 29 - Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy > Vladivostok

    Early morning, you will cruise into Avacha Bay to see the “home” volcanoes before disembarking. Farewell fellow adventurers as you board your included flight to Vladivostok
